Mobile Internet Access from your Cell Phone

As more and more business needs require travel and business users find themselves less and less 'in the office', you've no doubt seen the need for having access to the Internet on your laptop while on the go. Even with significant deployments of public Internet access at Starbucks, Panera, hotels, airports and other locations, you may find yourself, as I often do, needing Internet access immediately when you are away from your home or office. Maybe you are traveling across the country, or just driving to the other side of town to meet a client for lunch, the need for immediate connection to the web has been been greater. If you find yourself frequently having this need on the go, a wireless laptop broadband card is a great move, though their cost is between $100-$199, not to mention their $40-$60 per month connection fees. A new option that more and more wireless providers are offering is the ability to use your web-enabled cell phone as a tethered modem, giving you the ability to attach your phone to your laptop via a USB cable and access the Internet. Its a simple idea, and just requires that your wireless provider enables this feature on your phone, then have you install the right software to make that happen. Now you can look up important business data, send and receive emails in Outlook, and show presentations to clients in real time, fast and easy.
